UNESCO Category 2 Centers are a prominent global network of institutions that are established at the proposal of Member States, in collaboration with UNESCO and under the specialized supervision of this organization, to help advance the strategic objectives of UNESCO and the host country. Currently, there are eight Category 2 centers operating in Iran, which are implementing research programs, promoting knowledge, providing policy advice and guidance, and capacity building in various fields of natural sciences and culture. The UNESCO Tehran Office hosted a joint meeting on July 25, 2024, focusing on examining the dimensions of cooperation and strengthening synergies between Category 2 centers and UNESCO in line with advancing national, regional, and global development goals and strategies. Dr. Javadianzadeh, President of the International Center on Qanats and Historic Hydraulic Structures, also attended this meeting and presented this center.
